Lucy Coleman

Scholar Type:

NIH Oxford Scholar

Entry Year: 2026
Degrees:

B.S. Biochemistry, Minor in Chinese, University of Oklahoma, 2024
M.Sc., Chemistry, 2026

Mentors:

Dr. Tongqing Zhou (NIAID) and
Prof. Charlotte Deane (Oxford)

Research Interest:

Structural biology, Antibody design, Computational therapeutic development

Lucy graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a B.S. in Biochemistry and a minor in Chinese. During her undergraduate studies, she joined the lab of Dr. Shanteri Singh, studying chemoenzymatic methods to diversify natural products for improved therapeutic potential. She then earned an M.Sc. in Chemistry working with Dr. Ulrich Hansmann where she used computational methods to investigate modulating factors of protein aggregation in amyloid diseases.

As an NIH OxCam Scholar, Lucy will study viral targets and antibody design under the mentorship of Dr. Tongqing Zhou (NIAID) and Professor Charlotte Deane (Oxford). She plans to combine structural characterization of viral antibody-antigen complexes with computational modeling and machine learning for vaccine and therapeutic design. In her free time, Lucy likes to make pottery, bake, and try new restaurants.
