Housing We recommend that all students peruse the OITE Moving Guide before they begin to seek out accommodations near NIH. It contains some very detailed information about moving to the DC Capital Area and an abundance of useful links. The OITE also recommends that you take a look at Georgetown University’s Guide to Off-Campus Living . This is a resource designed for Georgetown students but it contains great information on housing options, tenant rights, sample leases, etc. useful to anyone renting in the Metro area. Some housing options the program recommends: The Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences (FAES) maintains two houses within walking distance of campus for Oxford-Cambridge Scholars. Information on availability may be obtained by contacting Carline Coote at ccoote@mail.nih.gov. Other residences nearby include the Battery Lane Apartments (walking distance from campus), the Bethesda Row Condos, and the Congressional Towers (which accommodate short-term leases), located near the Twinbrook Metro Station. Other resources for housing information include: National Institutes of Health’s R&W lists - http://www.recgov.org/housing/housing.html Washington Metro Area Craig's List (a good option for those who need short-term or last-minute housing - http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/hhh/ Washington Post’s Real Estate (Rentals) website: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/rentals/ Washington City Paper Classifieds: http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/class/classifieds.html Washington Post Classifieds: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/realestate/?nav=globetop Washington Times Classifieds: http://localnet.abracat.com/washingtontimes/ George Washington University’s Off-Campus Housing Website: http://gwired.gwu.edu/dos/offcampus/ApartmentSearching/
